Beyond The Line
If you were to take an artist, a writer and a choreographer, chuck them into a bag and shake them up then you’d probably get something close to this exhibition. Beyond The Line sees Emma Cocker, Nikolaus Gansterer and Mariella Greil come together to explore the points of slippage in drawing, dance and writing (as in slipping beyond the line - see what they did there?) They’ll show how each art form goes from an idea to a final product and how these different methods work when they join forces. Hopefully there won’t be much bickering, but plenty of collaborative loveliness from the talented trio.
Monday 14 - Thursday 17 April, 10am - 5pm, free, Bonington Gallery

Easter at Broadmarsh
Broadmarsh have got some eggcellent (sorry, that won’t be our last pun of the article) things going off this Easter holiday. The centre that time forgot shopwise, is on it event wise. You and your young’uns will have the chance to decorate some yummy eggs, as well as a basket to put them in - and let’s face it, you’re gonna be so proud of your creations, you’ll want to parade them all over the place. And, a little chick told us that if you’re lucky there may even be a certain well known fireman joining in with the fun.
Monday 14 – Sunday 19 April, free, Broadmarsh Centre

Easter Eggs-travaganza
It’s hotting up good and proper now duckies. So much so that the brand new farmyard animals of the city have decided to poke their heads out to say “Ey up!” Not just a week for the nippers, everyone is welcome to get down to the meet and greet - from frogspawn to baby bunnies, there’s a little critter for everyone to swoon and coo over. You’ll get the chance to go pond dipping, take part in special Easter workshops and even bottle-feed the new lambs. On top of all the cutesy stuff, one session focusses on bees and other wildlife - absolutely buzzing mate.
Monday 13 – Sunday 20 April, 10am, free, Stonebridge City Farm

Georgie Rose
We’ve got quite a multitude of singer-songwriters here in our fair city, and one who’s been turning plenty of heads over the past few years is the superb Georgie Rose. Taking influence from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, she crafts some absolutely beautiful songs, and has a knack for a catchy harmony too. This show sees her bring a four-piece band along to add that extra little kick to her songs; as well as some ace support from the master bluesman that is Ryan Thomas. We reckon it’s going to go off – but in a very laid back way.
Tuesday 15 April, 7pm, £5, The Glee Club

Dimensions Festival Launch Party
The Croatian underground electronic music festival Dimensions is back for its third year with a line-up that’s set to be its biggest yet. A storm will be kicked up on the Saltwater rooftop, Nottingham being one of the 57 events that the audacious festival is chucking all over the world to launch the festival. With Move D, John Heckle, Perry Louis, Willow, Alex Lewis and Matt King completing the night’s line-up, you’ll need your dancing shoes – especially as the event doesn’t stop until 2am. So that’s eight hours of awesome live electronic music, all the fun you can shake a glowstick at, and no work in the morning.
Thursday 17 April, 6pm – 2am, £5/£8, Saltwater

Tuned Easter Egg Hunt
This Thursday isn’t going to be just another Tuned at Citeh, oh no. They understand that Easter is a special holiday that has to be celebrated in the right way. And what is the right way? By putting on an incredibly eggstravagant Easter egg hunt. Yeah, you read that right. In between bopping to some of your favourite tunes, you’ll be tasked with hunting the venue for hidden eggs with prizes inside. That is, if you don’t get stuck to the floor.  Hopefully the prizes will be decent, and not a tub of mushy peas or summat.
Thursday 17 April, 10pm, £6, Rock City

Krautlounge II
We all know the Germans are famous for their impeccable sausages, but not all of us are in the know about the music bangers they’ve released over the years. Krautlounge are ready to change that; they’re two hot guys playing music from and inspired by Can, Faust, Amun Duul ll, Cluster, Neu and more. If you’re bored of hearing the same pop song in every bar, a night of German electronic and rock music from the sixties is certainly worth a go. If you miss these devils on Friday, they’re spreading the love this weekend and will also be spinning their tunes for the Record Store Day party the next night. Achtung baby!
Friday 18 April, 8pm, free, Cast Bar, Nottingham Playhouse. Saturday 19 April, 8pm, free, Nottingham Contemporary.

Contrast
Everyone seems to love a bit of ‘aaahse music these days, and what better way to get accustomed to the love than a night of local talent in the depths of Hockley? With a cultivated ear for what’ll keep toes on dancefloors, Contrast won’t skimp on the vibes. This time round, we’re served up local DJs, producers and artists in the form of Jack Edwards, French E and Animist I Sizlak, all passionate up and comers who know a thing or two about electronic music. The absence of an entry fee, the presence of sound people and beautiful cocktails put the icing on a rather delicious cake.
Saturday 18 April, 10pm, free, Bar Eleven

The Chameleon Six Years Later
Would you believe The Chameleon has been open six years? Time flies when you’re having fun, eh? To celebrate, they’re having a birthday party with one hell of a buffet provided by Nick and some awesome music as a tasty side dish. With a musical delights from Big Bandit – whose line-up includes the one and only Nick Turner - and US Damn Natives supporting, you almost don’t need DJ Jake hosting the downstairs speakers as well, but hey, they’re throwing him in the mix to give you even more reason to spend the night with them.
Saturday 19 April, 7pm, The Chameleon

Melting Pot
There’s so much going on during Hyson Green’s food and culture festival that we couldn’t possibly fit all the awesome activities here, so be sure to check out the link above. With the finest of edibles from an array of cultures, the weekend aims to explore the things we chow down as not just a means to stay alive, but a celebration of memories, identity and emotion. On top of that, there are dance troops, live music, an NG7 food bank, art works, nature talks and comedy from Patty Dumplin - there’ll even be a cycle-powered smoothie maker perching on the pavement outside.
Saturday 19 – Sunday 20 April, 12pm, free, New Art Exchange

Record Store Day
It’s Record Store Day and cos we’ve got such an ace music scene, there’s loads going off. The Music Exchange will not only have fistfuls of exclusive releases, they've arranged for a bunch of local bands to perform in the shop during the day, as well as a right mix of bands at Tempreh in the evening. Over at Spanky’s you can expect to find a great line-up of local bands too; including NME’s best mates Childhood, and electro duo of the moment April Towers, as well as plenty of other great acts. Fill your boots with vinyl and spin.
Saturday 19 April
: The Music Exchange, 8am-5.30pm, free. Nottingham Contemporary, 8pm, free. Spanky Van Dykes, 3.30pm, £7

Easter Egg Hunt
It’s always struck us as a bit mean to make people scrat around for eggs, but it seems to be the done thing so who are we to moan. Cobden Chambers - the newest and cutest shopping alley in the city with candy coloured buildings and SmallKid murals - have a free Easter egg hunt this week that will have you chasing round clues like a sugar-addict Sherlock. Fingers crossed for the weather too because the courtyard is one hell of a suntrap. Also, check out the huge bunny in the courtyard – if only he was made of chocolate…
Saturday 19 April, 11am – 4pm, free, Cobden Chambers

Omar
Can’t Stop Won’t Stop and Goodtimes are at it again, delivering the most legendary, soulful and sought-after acts the lug-holes can handle. First Roy Ayers, then Grandmaster Flash, and now the multifaceted Omar. With a lifelong love for singing, songwriting and general jamming, this neo soul master has collaborated with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu and Ol’ Dirty Bastard to name but a few. Sitting on a steady stream of feel-good, daydream classics, the British musician isn’t stopping here. His 2013 album The Man has reached new levels of acclaim and he’s reaching out to tell Nottinghamians that there really is nothing else like this.
Sunday 20 April, 8pm, £20, The Approach

Hit The Deck
Not everyone is up for riding the current singer-songwriter wave, preferring a bit more grit in their ears. DHP are getting raucous again with Hit The Deck, allowing you to celebrate your love of rock, emo and general alternative sounds by jumping around like a nutter in Rock City, Rescue Rooms, Stealth and The Forum. It’s the day after Bristol, which is a good thing because the bands will have limbered up good and proper. Brand New will be bringing their verbosely titled songs for their headline slot, and the rest of the line up - including our very own screamers, Baby Godzilla - is packed tighter than huge, hairy nuts in the skinniest of jeans.
Sunday 20 April, 12 - 11pm, £20 - £50, various venues
