Who’d have thunk it? A founding member of Rage Against The Machine, the world-dominating, tens-of-millions-of-albums-selling, Grammy-award-winning band, teaming up with Earache Records. One to tick of the list for Sneinton, for sure. Yep, even though RATM bassist Tim Commerford is based in LA, it’s the Nottingham legends who’ve bagged the band to add to their already extensive list of politically-charged acts. Musical dons who’re signed to the label include The Dillinger Escape Plan, Napalm Death, Carcass and Godflesh, to name but a few.

Earache Records’ Tom Hadfield adds “"We are so excited to be working with Tim Commerford and Wakrat. Since Rage Against The Machine there has been a distinct lack of politically charged bands around. Corruption is everywhere and those responsible for inequality need to be held accountable. What better place than here, what better time than now."

Not only has Tim Commerford played a massive part in the famously rebellious Rage Against The Machine, he also went on to form Audioslave, alongside fellow RATM bandmates Tom Morello and Brad Wilk, and Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell. Now, it’s time for a new endeavour – Wakrat. With Commerford on vocals and bass, Laurent Grangeon on vocals and guitar, and Mathias Wakrat on drums, it’s set to be an absolute stonker of a formation.

Their debut album is set to be released later this year on Earache.

Tom Commerford says “"We are gearing up to be on the offensive, assaulting the populous with our debut album on Earache Records. We have put a shit load of blood and sweat into this and we want it back! Our mission is to attack modern music and smash the grid. Unapologetic, unrelenting, unbridled and uncensored. Understood?"
