Many young'uns across the city have been left mourning the loss of nightclub The Forum after it announced its closure earlier this week

After eight years and over 2,500 parties, they've decided to hang up their boots because, as they rightfully say, “it was getting pretty minging in there anyway.” Whilst they may not be wrong, I always thought that ending the night with a thick layer of grime on the bottom of your shoe was part of its charm.

After winning both best and worst club awards over the year, The Forum's reputation grew to be more along the lines of 'so bad, it's good,' but this was not enough to keep the doors open any longer.

In a statement posted to Facebook, the nightclub says they are happy that The Forum will always be a part of Notts nightlife history and thanks all its friends and regulars for the unforgettable memories.

Whilst we were a bit worried that our Mondays would no longer be dirty, the club’s most popular event will be taking residency at a new venue, just in time for a whole new generation of university freshers to sample its classic soundtrack of Rihanna, David Guetta and Pitbull. However, we are still waiting to hear the future of Just The Tonic comedy club.

So it’s goodbye to The Forum, its sticky floors, and the random platforms in the middle of the dancefloor that everyone loved to fight over. You will be missed.
