We Are The Ocean
Festival season is coming to an end, how’s it been? What’s been the vibiest crowd?
It’s been great for us. We’ve done a few really good ones, Reading and Leeds, YNot Festival, we went over and did a couple in Germany. Reading was the best one for us this year.
You have a tour on the horizon. Any particular ones you’re really looking forward to?
All of them man, it’s great for us to get back on tour. We’re most comfortable out on the road playing live shows. There’s loads of cool places. Manchester is always good, Nottingham is always good. London, Glasgow, Leeds, there’s something good about every place that we go to. I can’t wait.
Any highlights from Nottingham?
If there were any stories I can’t remember them aha. We always go to the rock club next door. Really cheap drinks, sticky floors everywhere and everyones having a dance. If there was a story, and there probably is loads, it would happen there.
You’ve got some pretty sick artwork…
Yeah, we all get involved with it. The story behind Ark’s artwork is - there’s this guy called Father John Misty - he used to be in Fleet Foxes. Well, we loved his album, and the artwork, so we got in touch with the guy behind it, not expecting him to get back to us, and he did - and he was great, had loads of ideas. We sent him a few early tracks, and when we first got the artwork back we were like “what the fuck is this?” (in a good way!)
What’s your chill out track?
Usually something Pink Floyd. Or something more contemporary - Beck’s new album is great. There’s loads of stuff.
What’s your amped out track?
Stones, Zeppelin, Black Hawk Graveyard, Oasis. The list goes on.
Tacos or Burritos
Burritos.
Justin Bieber or Justin Timberlake
Timberlake is old school. Bieber is… Bieber. The song with Skrillex is a banger. But I think I’ve gotta go with Timberlake.
And what’s the best JT song?
Senorita.
We Are The Ocean play Rescue Rooms on 18 November 2015.
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
