Pitchshifter Are Reuniting for a Gig at Rock City
Tue 20 Nov 2018Pitchshifter’s last shows together were over ten years ago. After many rumoured reunions and new albums, the band are finally touring again, to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of their classic www.pitchshifter.com album, wrapping up with a show at Rock City this month. We put a few questions to lead vocalist JS Clayden ahead of the gig...

Spandex Ballet: A Work, of Art?
Thu 13 Sept 2018High-brow pursuits met high-flying pugilists as independent Wrestling show Spandex Ballet dropkicked into the Nottingham contemporary art gallery last weekend. The debut Nottingham show from the unusual Wrestling Resurgence promotion played in front of a packed house in the art gallery’s exhibition space. Pitching their tent firmly at the tongue-in-cheek, theatrical end of the spectrum, Resurgence nonetheless shoehorned in enough bone crunching spots and proper old fashioned wrastlin’ to entertain fans of all tastes.

Fri 31 Aug 2018On Saturday 8 September, three of Nottingham’s ‘ardest men will wrestle for supremacy in an inter-generational battle of wills to crown the Sheriff of the Nottingham grappling scene. Wrestling fans are used to seeing their larger-than-life heroes getting down to business in sports halls or nightclubs, but in a world first the “Battle of Nottingham” will be contested in the renowned Nottingham Contemporary art gallery - a venue more accustomed to chin-stroking than chin-music. Lucy Does Stonebridge City Farm
Thu 10 May 2018Sometimes, despite its best efforts to the contrary, life smiles at you. It recognises your best efforts to make the little bogger worthwhile, and sends a hiccup of happy your way. This month, I was gifted with an involuntary spasm of joy when I was sent to spend the day at Stonebridge City Farm to muck in, and muck out, with the barnyard beings that reside there. Buzz-ing.
