The Barrel Drop
Tucked away down Hurts Yard, just a minutes walk from the Market Square, The Barrel Drop provides a hidden oasis in the city centre. This is a place where you can go for a drink and read a book, chat with friends or indulge in one of the many pub games from years past.
It’s a compact venue; if you can imagine hosting a beer festival in your living room then you have a good idea of it’s petite size. It’s now approaching three years since they first opened and, in that time, they’ve served up a rapidly changing assortment of cask beer, that has made them a firm favourite in the city's beer scene. They occasionally even brew their own.
The bar staff are happy to take you on at a game of chess, they run a free cheese night every Thursday and there’s a monthly quiz, so there is something for everyone. This Craft Beer Week, they’re keen to showcase their key keg lines and make you realise that that cask can be craft #caskiscraft.
