Join us for an evening of poetry and film. We’re delighted to welcome Hilário Alves, an Angolan-Portuguese poet and founder of "FluentinBoth”. His verse delves into the realms of male sensibility and invites us to contemplate the intersections of race, identity, and love.

His readings will complement a special screening of the acclaimed Senegalese romantic drama, Banel & Adama. Banel and Adama are fiercely in love. The young couple live in a remote village in northern Senegal and for them, nothing else in the world exists. However, their love seems on a collision course with their family’s traditions as drought strikes their community. Award-winning filmmaker Ramata Toulaye Sy’s spellbinding debut feature follows the fated lovers in their quest to carve a life for themselves beyond the expectations of others.
