For this AfTREEnoon, we will be exploring all things tree through walking, eating and making!
We will begin the day with a tree tour led by Paul Paine. Paul is a permaculture gardening expert and forager, He works at Ecoworks on the St Anns Allotments; teaching and growing and cooking food. He has a passion for trees, especially ones that give us food! On this walk, we’ll discover the wide variety of trees living alongside us in our cities, from the big old trees in the park to the pioneer trees struggling to survive in concrete. We’ll learn about all the benefits of trees and why its so important to look after them.
After the walk we will enjoy a homemade lunch of a seasonal autumn soup and a tree inspired dessert of fruit and nut crumble, for those truly cosy November vibes! All the food will be vegan as standard, for gluten free or any other allergy options, please email meanderers at least 48 hours before the event
Finally you will be taught how to use leaves directly in your artwork to create leafy screenprints. You will to screenprint your own leafy designs onto canvas bags that you'll be able to take home with you, creating a lasting and creative memory of the day. This workshop will be led by artist and facilitator Amelia Daiz. Amelia runs Meanderers and facilitates workshops across the city in venues such as Nottingham Contemporary, City Arts and The Carousel.
Meanderers is based around walking, wellbeing, creativity and community, and these walkshops which combine the elements of a creative walk, a social meal and an art making session are things that can all help improve and maintain our sense of wellbeing. So, bring a friend or come solo and let's all feel good on a Sunday!
