Musical Chairs

From 7pm until 11:30pm on the 4th August 2023 a fundraiser at the Cosy Club, Nottingham, will be taking place in aid of Imara to celebrate the service they offer and raise donations to help support the children, young people and their safe families. Tickets are £10 each, get them before they sell out!

Imara is an independent specialist service that supports children, young people and their safe family members following disclosure or discovery of child sexual and/or domestic abuse.

A message from the hosts-

Hi all. This is Lily & Jas here. If you’ve found your way on to this page, we know you are into a bit of music and dancing! We want to present to you our one off fundraising event ‘Musical Chairs’ – It is going to be an absolute corker of a night, full to the brim of talented DJ’s showcasing some wicked tunes, Just for us!

Here is a bit about us – We are both art therapists and met through working together. After chatting for a while about our interest in music, we managed to rope in some of our friends to help us prepare a tasty night while also raising some money for the charity we work for. The charity is called Imara (which is translated to the word ‘Strong’) and we provide advocate support and therapy to children and young people. We are very passionate about providing a space that is comfortable for our clients and one thing that we were both keen to do for the service was to provide some new furniture and freshen up our waiting room so that our clients and their families have a space that is suitable for their needs.

Let us give you a little bit of information about our night!

To kick things off and get us warmed up for the evening we will be starting with Nottingham’s finest, Mugwump aka Mugz. Mugz has been playing tunes across Notts and beyond for over 20 years. With an eclectic taste in music, expect funk, hip hop, ska and jungle vibes to get you dancing! We are very excited to have him joining us and to get us pumped up for the music ahead.

Next up is Dr Smosli & TM Trademark aka the ‘Smorsli Brothers’. We are very excited to have these boys back together to provide us with some tunes that will tear the house down. It has been one very long year since they played together, and we are so excited to see what they will bring. A little bit of info about them both,

DR Smorsli aka Samir, has been spinning the wheels of steel for 11 years, he is known for running house and techno club gigs with Thrillhouse (2012 – 2016) and Pretty Pretty Good (2016 – 2018). He is a current resident of Sheffield’s finest night Apricot Ballroom. Dr Smosli is more disco focused with influence from David Mancuso’s audiophile parties in his club ‘The Loft’. He mainly focuses on house and disco but has roots in hip-hop and R&B – so be expecting a few twists from this one!

Joining DR Smosli will be his lil bro, TM Trademark. Rising star Tom is following in his older brother's footsteps, coming all the way from the big smoke just for one night, one night only. Tom is one half of Joy Ride FM, with radio shows in London and Madrid. He is a regular on Netil and he will keep you going all night long with his funky beats. Tom’s USB is packed full of house, garage and be expecting some famous Morsli brother set surprises!

At Last, we will be finishing with Sheffield’s finest Kudan. You may have heard of him, and if you haven’t you won’t forget him after this party! Kudan (aka Dan) has been the promotional energy behind projects such as FORGE, Tresemmex, Pretty Pretty Good, Sweats, Signal and many more since 2015. He has steadily developed a reputation for being a fun and technically able DJ during that time, ‘Top Tier when he wants to be’ (Harry Shackleton 2023). What is exciting about Dan is that he usually doesn’t have a clue what he’s going to play until it happens, which can often lead to some unexpected twists and turns. Dan knows how to take the house down, and that is why we are so excited to have him with us for the night!

We are really grateful for this talented bunch to join us for the evening. A little more about the event – We will be charging £10 for tickets – this will be to help us reach our aim of purchasing some decent waiting room furniture.

There will be a bar, where you are able to buy any drinks you would like. We won’t be providing food so get yourself something to line the tummy up before you arrive! We are so excited to get together and celebrate Imara, the wonderful staff there and to finally raise some money for the amazing people we work with day in and day out.
