February Book Group: Mammals, I Think We Are Called With Giselle Leeb

Thursday 27 February 2025

At Five Leaves Bookshop

Price Free
Times 19:00 - 20:30

Our book group is open to all. Attend every meeting, occasionally or just once in your life. All we ask is that you read the book in advance and take part in the discussion. There’s a short introduction by a member of staff, a group regular, or someone we know with a special interest in the book in question.

This February we’re bringing back a special set up we did a couple of times in the early days of the shop. We’ll be discussing the short story collection Mammals, I Think We Are Called, and for the first 45 minutes this will be like our regular book group discussion. However, this collection is written by Five Leaves very own Giselle Leeb, who will then be joining us for the second half of the evening and answering your questions on the book.

“it’s a triumph” – LeftLion

This collection playfully explores the human condition in the 21st century in a series of stories ranging from the ecological to the technological.  There are 18 short stories in total, ranging in style, with dystopian settings and talking animals to the reality of social media and contemporary isolation.

Free event. Refreshments provided.

Our book groups – Fiction (monthly), Pagan (bi-monthly), Non-Fiction (roughly quarterly) , and, coming in 2025, an Irish book group

You don’t need to buy the book from us – libraries are good! – but we offer 15% discount on book group  books in the lead up to the event. That’s 15% to anyone buying that book, whether they turn up or not.
