Moja are a contemporary jazz ensemble comprised of some of the best known members of the East Mids jazz scene, who really enjoy the freedom to stretch out.

The level of enthusiasm in audience responses at recent gigs promoting their latest album "Journey of a Lifetime" is testament to the claim that Moja is one of the more interesting and enjoyable bands you're likely to hear on the contemporary UK jazz scene.

Led by Gary Reader on saxes. Neil Hunter on keys is well known for his work backing Tony Kofi and Greg Abate. Simon Potts on drums is probably best known for his work with Gilad Atzmon. Dan Johnson on guitar expands on his solid foundations in post bop, and Andy Tytherleigh brings an eclectic range of influences on bass.

They play mostly original compositions heavily influenced by the likes of Pharaoh Sanders, Paul Dunmall, Charles Lloyd and Miles' late 60s/early 70s work, retaining a strong emphasis on melody combined with moments of intense energy.
