Explore the buildings of prolific Victorian architect Thomas Chambers Hine and see for yourself how “The Father of the Midlands Architects” impacted the built environment of Nottingham City Centre.
The Hine Hike takes in an overview of the Park Estate and the Park Tunnel, progressing via Hine’s home and office on Regent Street towards Nottingham Castle. Investigating some of his lesser-known buildings by continuing across the City Centre, this walk finishes by examining some of his large-scale projects in the Lace Market.
This is a walk of approximately 3km (1.9 miles) taking around 2 hours.
Participants are asked to come prepared for appropriate weather eventualities and to wear suitable footwear for city walking. There are some stairs/steps on the route.Meet outside Nottingham Playhouse in Wellington Circus. Finish Lace Market Square.
