About Our Make It Yours Sessions
You’re invited to drop into our Creative Courtyard and make something inspired by the museum collection.
Our creative sessions are free and open to all. Join us to make and create together and contribute to our growing museum! The sessions will be led by artists, makers, and writers, all influenced by this unique museum.
While these are free, you must book your space to attend.
Friday 08 March: Exploring Self-expression Through Art
Personal names and tattoos take on new meanings for inmates who are often seen as numbers and statistics. This workshop will involve designing and embroidering an initial of your choice in the style of a prison tattoo while exploring the history of self-expression through art with Mary Broddle. Suitable for all skill levels, including complete beginners.
Friday 15 March: The Power of Spoken Word
Explore the power of poetry and spoken word with poet Manjit Sahota. In this workshop, you will be supported to create a poem that reflects your feelings and opinions of the ‘Juvenile In Justice’ exhibition. Manjit will guide you through the process of developing your ideas and thoughts and you will be encouraged to create your own poem to read or perform. This workshop is great for building confidence and expressing ideas and feelings.
Friday 22 March: Reclaiming Narratives and Challenging Stereotypes
