Japanese Stab Binding Workshop

At Nottingham Central Library

Price £0 - £5
Times 11:00 - 15:00

Join local book artist Paula McCann for a book making workshop suitable for older teens and adults. Together you will learn the art of the Japanese stab bound book, and make a simple four hole binding.

Learn to make a notepad or simple journal from any paper you have around, or bind photocopies and printouts. The covers on your book will be plain for you to personalise how you wish. The inside pages are varied papers, colours and patterns.

Contribute what you can with a suggested donation of £5 to cover materials and please reserve your place to facilitate our planning.

But please don't hesitate to join us even if you're unable to meet the suggested donation. And we are easy-going. If you fail to reserve a space, we'll strive to fit you in on the day.

If you are in a position to give more, please consider donating a space for someone else. Drop by any time between 11 and 2.30 to learn how to create your book. Each book takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.

This workshop is part of the Notts Book Arts Festival which includes a Book Art Fair, a touring exhibition in Nottingham Libraries and a workshop programme. Please visit our website for more information. Supported by Arts Council England.
