In the second of our LeftLion at the Library Live Podcasts we chat to Nottingham based illustrator Emily Catherine. Known for her large scale portraits, Hip Hop album covers and Beermat Doodles (plus the lovely LeftLion mag editorial images!) Emily has been working as an artist for over ten years.
We’ll be discussing Emily’s life and work, from having lived through homelessness, hostel living, working retail and bar jobs, to how she came to her career as an artist and illustrator at the age of thirty. There will also be a chance for questions from the audience afterwards.
This talk precedes Emily’s upcoming solo exhibition, starting on Sat 24 August, which centres people, music and justice at the heart of her practice.
Head to Emily's website to see some of her work: https://www.emilycatherineillustration.com
We’ll be doing these events at Nottingham Central Library once a month for the rest of 2024 thanks to funding from Arts Council England. All interviews will be recorded and we will publish them as podcasts across our networks soon afterwards. We have some very interesting and amazing guests lined-up. Tickets are free, but booking in advance is essential.
