A special event for artists and creative practitioners exploring inclusive creative practice working with and for people from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds.

 

Join us to hear about current research and projects. Learn more about the experiences of people living within refugee and asylum-seeking systems. Take part in activity and discussion to share practice.

 

This event is part of the Art of Belonging pledge, a commitment by the arts and cultural sector and creative practitioners in Nottingham to ensure an inclusive offer for people from refugee or asylum-seeking backgrounds. Included in this pledge is a commitment to share approaches and professional development opportunities.

Programme Contributors:

Anna Ball and Allan Njanji from HEAL (Hostile Environment, Art-fuelled Living) - a collective of freelance creatives, producers, educators, writers and researchers with roots in Nottingham but operating nationally, who collaborate on Migration Arts activities that mobilise the psychologically healing and socially empowering potential of creativity for those facing the hostile environment of the UK’s immigration system.

 

Joanna McIntyre, Professor of Education, University of Nottingham. Joanna’s work is in the fields of teacher education and refugee education. She leads the Hub for Education for Refugees in Europe (HERE).

 

Cathy Mahmood (Manager) and Amanda Spruyt (Chair), Nottingham’s Cultural Education Partnership, ChalleNGe.
