Getting to Grips With Erotica: a Beginner's Guide to Writing Kink

THE WORKSHOP:

During this workshop we will get to grips with the words needed to make erotica work – and learn about those best avoided!

We will discover how the most mundane situations can trigger stories of the kinkiest nature. With this is mind, we will use the premise of a trip to the supermarket to stimulate erotic ideas which can be translated into believable and relatable fiction.

We’ll work on creating short scenes that can be expanded into future stories; be they works of flash fiction, short stories, or novels. Who knows, you could have your very own erotic tale to share with a loved one or to enter into an erotic anthology or story writing competition.

COURSE GOALS:

1. - to become comfortable with the words used in erotica.
2. - to understand the difference between erotic, pornographic and sensual.
3. - to create future story triggers and stretch the creative imagination within the genre of erotica using everyday objects as inspiration.

KAY JAYBEE / JENNY KANE:

Kay Jaybee (usually known as romcom writer, Jenny Kane), was named Best Erotica Writer of 2015, and has received honouree mentions at many award ceremonies for excellence in BDSM writing.

Teaching creative writing for over a decade, she has strong links with the Nottingham Writers Studio.

Kay Jaybee has had over 180 erotica publications, including the novels, Making Him Wait The Voyeur and, The Perfect Submissive Trilogy: The Fifth Floor, The Retreat and Knowing Her Place.
