To celebrate the release date of her debut album All Those Things I Thought I Knew, emzae is performing the project in full for the first time at one of her favourite venues - and you're invited! Six years in the making, written, recorded, produced and mixed entirely by emzae in her Derby bedroom and released via her own record label, the ambitious, genre-twisting album takes an alternate look at pop’s most romanticised decade, giving a voice to those whose twenties aren’t filled with endless parties and movie-like love affairs.
Starting out with no musical background or contacts and living alongside chronic illness, emzae has doggedly pursued a music career in the face of self-doubt, bad advice, health challenges, underestimation and a rapidly dwindling budget. All Those Things I Thought I Knew tells this story in musical form as it lurches from sprawling ballad to synth-pop floor filler, echoing the range of emotions experienced by its creator and the universal ups, downs, twists and turns of twenty-something life.
Expect diamantés, dramatic interludes and pop hooks you'll find yourself singing long afterwards.
