New Port City, Japan 2029: A cyborg government agent, Major Motoko Kusanagi, and the Internal Bureau of Investigations are hot on the trail of a hacker known as “The Puppet Master”, a sentient computer virus capable of infiltrating human hosts.
Together with her fellow agents from Section 9, Kusanagi embarks on a race against time to capture the dangerous and omnipresent entity.
Based on the manga by Masamune Shirow, Ghost in the Shell features groundbreaking animation from Production I.G. studio (Kill Bill Vol. 1, Patlabor, The Deer King) and a beautiful, atmospheric score by acclaimed composer Kenji Kawai (Ring, Ip Man, Death Note).
