It's five years since Detonate started their nights of hiphop and DnB in Nottingham. Roni Size is here to celebrate
Nottingham promoters Detonate celebrate their fifth birthday this week at Rock City with a trademark huge DnB and hip hop event.
Room one is filled with a heavy line up of Drum and Bass; The awesome Roni Size headlines with his new live act, he'll share the stage with MC Tali (live), Andy C, Mampi Swift, Bryan Gee, Bassline Smith and of course Transit Mafia (Detonate resident and promoter).
The second room of beats and breaks see's a return to Detonate for AIM (Dj set), Fluff and Problem Child. Room 3 has a fantastic line up of UK and US hiphop, Ugly Duckling (formed in LA) are joined by Blade, First Rate and Tiger Styles. The stage is hosted by Marga Boys frontman Lee Ramsay. Choosing which room to be in may cause a few headaches!
There's no doubt this is going to be a fantastic event, if you're planning on going make sure you get tickets from Selectadisc soon!
So what is planned for Detonate in 2004 and beyond? Well their monthly event will move away from long term home, the Bomb. New club Stealth will take up the raines in May and are promising big things (A Ram residency has been heavily hinted at).
Events at The Rescue Rooms, aiming at the live and lighter sides of the genre continue along with all night event 'Detonation' at The Ballroom and of course expect to see more occasional events at Rock City.
Happy Fifth Birthday Detonate and let's hope for many more!
