Our Style Is Legendary: The Art of LeftLion

reading time: min, words

Like our website and our magazine? Well come and have a look at our first exhibition...

Over the last five years LeftLion have been lucky enough to work with some of Nottingham's most talented photographers, designers, illustrators and visual artists.

We’ve generated many bespoke works of art to fill our pages, both in our magazine and on the website. So, we decided it was time to put together a collection of some of our favourite pieces that we've published. Not only does this give our readers a great insight into the creative process of the magazine, but it also gives our contributors the chance to show new works and other artists an opportunity to submit their ideas to the exhibition.

The very first live music events we put on took place at the Malt Cross and it seemed fitting to return there for our first ever art exhibition. We'll be having a big opening night party on Thursday 5 March and the exhibition itself continues at the Malt Cross until Saturday 14 March. At that point we'll be taking a selection of work from there to another of our favourite venues, The Golden Fleece, where it will stay on display for a further month. LeftLion's aim has always been to make culture and art of all forms more accessible to the people of Nottingham and those visiting us from elsewhere: we hope this show will do just that.

The exhibition is curated by LeftLion Art Director David Blenkey (woot-design.co.uk/blog) and Rebecca Gove-Humphries (gove-humphries.co.uk) Artists and photographers featured in the exhibition will include: Rob White (thearthole.co.uk), Si Mitchell (simitchell.co.uk), Rikki Marr (rikkimarr.com), Alex Godwin (alexgodwin.co.uk) and Dom Henry (domhenry.com).

Exhibition dates:
The Malt Cross from 5 - 14 March
The Golden Fleece from 21 March - end of April.

We have a favour to ask

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
