Indie-rock band, Kaiser Chiefs have been announced as headliners for this year’s Splendour Festival on Saturday 22 July 2017
The Yorkshire quintet are the first of over 40 acts who be announced for Nottingham's big summer day out at Wollaton Park. They follow in the footsteps of previous headliners such as Jess Glynne (2016), The Specials (2015), Jake Bugg (2013), The Pet Shop Boys (2010) and Madness (2009).
George Akins, owner of promoters DHP Family, said: “Following the biggest ever Splendour last year, we’re delighted to announce Kaiser Chiefs as 2017 headliners. The award-winning band has an amazing back catalogue as well as a great new album out. I can’t wait to see over 20,000 people at Splendour singing along to what is sure to be a real belter of a set.”
The band issued a statement saying: “We're really looking forward to performing at Splendour. We know the crowd and the setting will make for an unforgettable atmosphere.”
Kaiser Chiefs are made up of lead vocalist, and coach on BBC talent show The Voice, Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew White, bassist Simon Rix, keyboardist Nick Baines and as of 2013, drummer Vijay Mistry, who replaced founding drummer Nick Hodgson.
They released their debut album Employment in 2005, which included hits Everyday I Love You Less and Less and I Predict a Riot. The album sold over three million copies and won the band three Brit Awards. Since then, they have released five more original studio albums; Yours Truly, Angry Mob (2007), Off with Their Heads (2008), The Future Is Medieval (2011), Education, Education, Education & War (2014) and their latest album Stay Together (2016), which charted in the UK top five.
Tickets are now on sale for the festival at £46 (standard), £36 (City Residents) and £20 (young people aged 11-17). Children under 11 will once again be admitted free. VIP packages are also available starting from £80. They can be purchased online or in person from the Nottingham Tourism Centre.
