Back to the Future

We’re absolutely loving the life that’s been blasted with full force into Sneinton Market these days. We’ve had art exhibitions, food and drink markets and all sorts taking place there over the last couple of weeks, and this weekend ain’t no different. Blend Coffee – the coffee shop what does the fancy grilled cheese sarnies – and Big Sky Cinema are bring you an outdoor film experience that’ll send you back in time. Or forwards. The screening of Back to the Future will start at 9pm, but you’re invited along from 7pm to enjoy some live music, and food courtesy of The Super Kitchen. There’s also rumours of the DeLorean rocking up...

Amulet

It’s wicked to see a band’s hard work paying off, and one of them said bands is Amulet. The band were formed in 2015, and are the epitome of indie; bowl cuts and round sunglasses as standard. But trendy fad these lot are not. They’ve got some cracking tunes, citing inspiration from the likes of Stone Roses and Oasis. You might have seen ‘em play at Cycle Live or the Nottingham Independent’s Festival, but this week they’re taking to the stage at Rough Trade for a gig in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. In’t that loveleh? There’ll be support from Sonder and Short Weekends. Make sure you take some cash moneys to dob in the pot.

Up on floor 1.5 throughout the month of July, Ottar Chocolate will be bringin along some of the best chocolate in the city, alongside pastries from Small Food Bakery and coffee from Outpost. The space is gonna become a proper haven on Broad Street, so you can take some time out from the hustle and bustle to take a break. There’ll also be homewares on sale from Lane. Make sure you take enough pennies with you. It could turn into an expensive break...

Shakespeare in the Garden

The new tramlines into Beeston may have caused an absolute raucous during their installation, but now they’re there, they’ve opened up a world of opportunities for lazy city dwellers to get stuck in to the world of events Beeston has to offer. This week, the White Lion are hosting an evening of Shakespeare in their beer garden, so you can sup on a cold one while mischievous fairies run amok for your viewing pleasure. The chaotic love story, A Midsummer Night’s Dream sees Hermia, Demetrius, Lysander and Helena get proper wrapped up in one of the most complicated love triangles – or squares – since Max, Stacey and Bradley in Eastenders. Meet you there.
Saturday 15 July, 6.30pm, £5/£8, The White Lion at Beeston, event link
