Nottingham's own Jon McGregor is set to sit on the judging panel for this year's Leicester Writes short story competition.

The competition, organised by East Midlands press Dahlia Publishing, will see winners receive a £100 prize for their submission, and longlisters will have a slot allocated in the competitions annual anthology publication. Submissions are still open for short fiction up to 3000 words in length and on any theme or subject.

Dahlia Publishing's Farhana Shaikh has said "We’re really excited about launching this competition for a second time. Last year, we received more than a hundred entries, half of which came from within the Midlands. We know people are writing short stories and more people than ever are reading them. We want to support this growth. As ever, we're keen to unearth some raw talent."

The judging panel will also consist of Leicester short story writer Rebecca Burns, and last year's first-place winner C. G. Menon.

More information about the competition can be found at Leicester Writes website at http://leicesterwrites.co.uk/prize.
