With Pancake Day on the way, we thought we'd run through some of the best places you can visit for a sweet (or savoury) treat...
Pudding Pantry
In the words of the almighty Lizzy O’Riordan, LeftLion’s Editorial Assistant, “Pudding Pantry is an obvious one, but so good.” And you know what? She’s right on both accounts. Pudding Pantry is an obvious choice because their pancakes are so good. If you’ve taken a walk past any Pantry on a Saturday lunchtime, you’ll likely have seen queues stretching right out the door, and that’s for good reason - this local institution nails everything on its menu, every time, without fail… and pancakes are no exception to the rule.
Pudding Pantry | Trinity Square | From £4.75
Jo’s Pancake House
“The best pancakes I’ve ever had” is the verdict from famed Google reviewer David Peace on Jo’s Pancake House, and it’s a sentiment that is shared by plenty of others online. Offering delicious homemade pancakes without charging ridiculous prices, Jo’s has gained a loyal following throughout Nottingham, with punters relying on the Ilkeston Road joint for a tasty hangover cure and quick, friendly service.
Jo’s Pancake House | Ilkeston Rd | From £4.00
Copper
If you’re wanting to feel a bit fancy this Pancake Day, take a trip to Copper on Market Street. Their American-style pancakes come with a topping of either caramelised banana, hazelnuts and maple mascarpone or maple-glazed streaky bacon, making this the place to be if you’re wanting a special treat. What’s more? You can enjoy your meal in proper nice surroundings with a relaxed, sociable atmosphere. Lovely stuff.
Copper | Market Street | £7
King’s Walk Kitchen
Variety isn’t necessarily the name of the game at King’s Walk Kitchen, but what they do have on offer is more than enough. Serving soft, fluffy pancakes with maple syrup, homemade berry compote and fruit, this is the definition of a sweet treat. Not only does it taste good, though, but it’s also one of the most Instagrammable dishes in the city. You’ll be feeling like royalty after a trip here.
King’s Walk Kitchen | King's Walk | £5.95
Bill’s
Okay, so a big chain like Bill’s probably doesn’t need bigging up too much, but there’s no doubting their pancakes are worthy of praise. Whether you’re into the sweet or the savoury, ol’ Bill has you covered, with stacks of pancakes coming with either bananas, strawberries and blueberries or smoked streaky bacon. Just reading the menu will get the mouth watering. A word of warning, though - these won’t come cheap.
Bill’s | Queen Street | From £7.50
