You don't have to travel halfway across the country, or blow half your savings, to get that festival feeling - Notts' own Boho Festival is one offer closer to home that hopes to tick all your boxes...
Eighties stars Martin Kemp from Spandau Ballet, Ben Volpierre-Pierrot from Curiosity Killed the Cat and 90s DJ and singer Jeremy Healy have been announced for this year’s Boho Festival, Nottinghamshire’s newest family-friendly event.
The three-day festival will be held from July 26 – 28 2024 at Millview Glamping and Events site in Newton, a unique and secluded site nestled in the heart of the county’s countryside.
Featured acts from numerous music genres include tribute bands Blondied, UK Fleetwood Mac, Le Freak Chic and Nile Rogers Tribute, plus original bands from Nottingham such as Dusty4track, Concrete Rose, Fat Digester to name a few, and further afield. The Disco Yurt, with house music, will provide an underground dance vibe.
There's also plenty on offer for families, with kids’ entertainment, arts and crafts, stalls, street food, workshops and classes. Organisers say they are already seeing plenty of demand for tickets as people seek smaller and more affordable festivals closer to home, so you might need to jump in quick.
Founded in 2023 by the Perkins family, who were behind the award-winning Nottinghamshire restaurant Tom Brown’s Brasserie at Gunthorpe for more than 30 years and now run Bohemian Events, Boho Festival offers day and weekend tickets and luxury bell tent hire or general camping tickets.
Robin Perkins said: “We’re so excited about the festival this year. It promises to be even bigger and better than last year. We have worked hard to make Boho Festival an intimate gathering of all ages to enjoy live music, DJs and entertainment in a beautiful woodland settling. Tickets are selling quickly, and we can’t wait to welcome the festival goers.
The 16-acre Millview site is located on former RAF Newton land used to park bomber aircraft. The site was opened in 2021 by Tom Fisher, whose family has farmed in Newton for many years. It was later used as a horse cross-country course and is now hosting intimate retreats and events.
Tom Fisher added: “We are delighted to host Boho Festival again. I grew up in the 90s and to host big names such as Jeremy Healy and Martin Kemp is fantastic for us. It’s such a great event for locals and visitors to get together and have a good time in our beautiful Trent Valley surroundings.”
So you don't need to break the bank to have fun in the sun this year, and you can support local businesses whilst you're at it. Adult day tickets are just £35, with kids day tickets at £10 plus bookings fees. Overnight and all weekend camping options are available.
