Cycling

We don’t cycle, but we do have a cycle. We’ve had it ten years. We started really keen but the roads are a bit dangerous. We were thinking of getting a tandem, but we’d argue too much. Cycling in mass is a marvellous idea, a bit like joggers in a mass. We saw some up near the Bread and Bitter, and they looked like a tractor all together with their lights.

Comedians

Someone told us a joke: ‘I know someone who worked in a shoe recycling factory, they said it was sole-destroying.’ The best comedian we’ve ever seen was Jimmy Tarbuck in Derby about twenty years ago. We know people don’t like Jimmy Tarbuck but he was very funny. We would have liked to have seen Tommy Cooper when he came to Nottingham, but we didn’t and then he dropped down dead which was a little disappointing.

200 issues of LeftLion

Perfect. A friend of ours said, ‘Isn’t it a left wing newspaper?’ and we said, ‘No, it’s because that’s where everybody meets’. How many have we been in? Must be over ten years. Sometimes people recognise us, but our father is far more famous than we are. He was the groundsman of Notts County Football Club.

We have a favour to ask

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
