As the Nottingham European Arts and Theatre Festival 2014 (NEAT14) is just around the corner, Hatch are preparing to put on a bunch of experimental performances around Notts, and they want YOU to be involved!
Between 23 May and 1 June, Hatch are looking to put on a range of performances around the city centre, focusing on unusual areas, and small venues and they’re leaving it completely open to you. So, you could do something proper nice and detailed like set-up an audio tour, guiding people through certain historic parts of Notts. Or, you could just have a big mess abaht and make one huge game that gets everybody involved.
Considering one of the main themes of NEAT14 is the anniversary of the First World War and the impact it’s had on the following hundred years; they’re especially interested in seeing some performances that work with similar ideas. So any of you lot that paid attention back at school, this is your time to shine.
You’ve got a lot to play with here. So, get your thinking cap on, pick the oddest location you can think of; and break some boundaries. You’ll get three hundred quid to help realise your dream if your performance is selected, and you get to have fun along the way.
If this sounds like your cup of tea, drop Hatch an email with your ideas, and make sure to specify what your availability is, and what kind of environment suits your performance best.
Deadline for submissions is midnight on Friday 2 May, and – fingers crossed – you’ll hear back from them in the week following this.

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
