Leciester keeps harping on about some crooked-faced king they found under a carpark but it's their literature scene we're most impressed with. When they put on an event people turn up and get involved, which isn't always the case in our neck of the woods. This Saturday you can bob on a train for £10.50 return and show your support for artists from the region. Here's a little teaser courtesy of Renaissance One, who produced these glorious little videos.
Derby-based poet Joe Coghlan will be doing his bit for our neighbours up the A52. Joe blends the rhythms and rhyme schemes of rap with the breathing space of good story telling e.g. he can talk dead fast for ages without forgetting his lines and what he has to say will make you well up.
Andrew ‘Mulletproof’ Graves is the unofficial poet laureate of the NG. He takes you through the back streets, finding beauty where others see rubbish, humour where others hear noise. He’s also a bit of a dapper dresser and has recently returned from a national tour.
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
