Hiphop DJ and legendary vinyl junkie Peanut Butter Wolf is in town this Wednesday and you can get in for just £5

Peanut Butter Wolf

This Wednesday (20th October) Peanut Butter Wolf pays rare a visit to Nottingham to play Camouflage at the Rescue Rooms. He is supported on the night by Children of the Last Days, Kids in Tracksuits, Foz and Camo Resident DJ's.

Peanut Butter Wolf has been around a long time. And during that time he has become one of the most influential people in independent Hip Hop.

DJ, producer and owner of Stones Throw Records Chris Manak a.k.a DJ Peanut Butter Wolf has collected records since the age of nine. During that time he has amassed a serious amount of vinyl.

"The one thing I've noticed with hip-hop producers is the best ones always have the biggest record collections, really know their music a lot, and are big fans of music. All music." he said.

His record collection shows in his beats and his discography speaks for its self. Having produced for the likes of Kool Keith, BT, Herbalizer, Redman, Madlib. The list goes on and on. He has also found time to run Stones Throw records and help develop and promote people like MF Doom, Breakestra, Madlib, Oh No, Jaylib, J Rocc, Madvillian Again the list goes on and on.

I think when some hiphop peeps came up with the idea of Don't Sleep it was meant for PBW. How many hours are in the day? He's in the UK at the Moment to play a few select gigs and help promote a DVD/Video of 101 releases on Stones Throw. 101 releases on an independent hiphop label is a massive success. Well done to you and keep them coming.

Support comes from Children of the Last Days. They hail from Brum but have strong Notts connections and links to Dealmaker Records. Anyone that caught their set at the Malt Cross earlier this year will know that this crew have serious talent. A male emcee with deep, thoughtful lyrics and a female vocalist with an outstanding voice: put them both together and you have a crew that are making there own type of hiphop.

Kids in Tracksuit are two young local lads that have a stupid amount of potential. Reminiscent of a young Massive Attack or Prodigy. They do a Computer and Turntable Hip Hop set at the Mo but you can see that they have massive cross over appeal. The futures bright for these guys.

Foz is probably the best human beatboxer in Notts. His set always brings the house down. His clothing sponsor Forecast will be representing on the night and also showing off their new range.

Starting things of will be Camo residents Windows78, Dubfella and T-cutt. Mixing Funk 45's, Beats, Hip Hop and Dub for anyone that's makes it down early.

Doors open at 8.30pm. Free 'Oh No' and 'Stones Throw' mix cd's will be given away by PBW on the night.
