Introduction to Domestic Violence and Abuse Awareness Training
An eight week course, this course is perfect for anyone wanting to increase their awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and violence, and for those who would like to work with or volunteer with women and children who are experiencing domestic abuse. The course covers, among other things, why it happens, who it happens to, how the law deals with it, and what help can be accessed locally. Important and informative, it’s free to women on income related benefits or £77 for the full course, and child care costs are available to those eligible also. Muses, Mistresses and Masterpieces from Kaufman to Khalo
Get stuck in to exploring the lives and works of female artists, right from the eighteeth century through to modern day. WoLAN’s Natasha Picot will be leading the sessions which run every Saturday for eight weeks. Free to women on means tested benefits or £44 for the full course, you can book your place by emailing [email protected], or just pop down to one of the sessions.

Women into Music
Although everyone’s tastes are different, music is universally loved by many. Get together to develop your musical knowledge, discover new artists, talk about the music you love and have a go yourself if the mood takes you. The emphasis of the course is on women’s music, and there’ll be opportunities to go to gigs, write reviews and make some music of your own. Free to women on means tested benefits or £2.75 an hour for everyone else. Wednesday 3 June until Wednesday 22 July, 11am – 2.30pm, Antenna Media Centre

Women Awake!
A one-day workshop, they’re hoping to get women of all ages chatting, laughing, sharing and reminiscing about their experiences of activism, feminism and campaigning. Take down any memorabilia you’ve got kicking around, from badges to t shirts to posters and magazines – it doesn’t matter how old they are either. Also, if you take down your tape cassettes, vinyl or CDs, or even your own musical instruments, there’ll be a further get together in the evening where music will fill the air. Free to women on means tested benefits, or £18 to others, the day includes a veggie lunch and dinner plus hot and cold drinks. Bring your own alcohol for the evening portion of the day.
