Thu 04 Aug 2022In 2018, poet Michael Pedersen set off on a trip across the Scottish Highlands with one of his best friends Scott Hutchison - founder of the indie rock band Frightened Rabbit. But after the sudden passing of the latter, Pedersen found himself surrounded by grief as he sat down to write his next book. Unable to write poetry, though, he poured himself into journals, and what emerged was Boy Friends, the touching new release chronicling his life through the lens of male friendships. Wed 15 Jun 2022Citizens assemblies are a way of addressing thorny issues participatively, through an educational and democratic process that involves affected communities in shaping political responses. Nottingham Climate Assembly was formed to host such initiatives around climate change and environment issues; this July they launch their Lottery Heritage-funded Nottingham Youth Climate Assembly for 15-18 year olds (though young people up to age 25 can help out). Twenty-year-old writer Emily Giddings finds out more about our city’s first ever citizen’s assembly.
