We’re excited to welcome emerging musicians to the stage for our Peggy’s Spotlight event! Jazz drummer, Louis Chapman is bringing his Quartet from Trinity Laban Conservatoire. And Adara, pianist & vocalist will be playing her own songs and compositions.

Pendentive

Pendentive are a dynamic musical quartet, showcasing an impressive blend of telepathic improvisational abilities and a rich tapestry of genres, including broken beat, downtempo, funk, and jazz-rock. Their music balances precision and creativity, often experimenting with unconventional song structures to craft unique and unexpected musical moments. Each performance is infused with a sense of adventure, mixing intuitive drum patterns with soulful vocal melodies, guitar work that explores an orchestral range of sonic possibilities, and intricate keyboard lines that add depth and texture. Influenced by a diverse array of artists, including Avishai Cohen, Portishead and MF DOOM, Pendentive offers something for everyone. Their innovative approach to music, combined with their infectious energy, ensures that every performance is an unforgettable journey into the heart of rhythm and groove.

Adara

Adara is a singer-songwriter from Nottingham. Her work explores the inner landscape through poetic (and sometimes humorous) lyricism mixed with playful and angular chord progressions on piano. Drawing influence from the likes of Kate Bush, Fiona Apple and Prince, her songs are crafted to be little worlds where she expresses her emotions at their most amplified.

She started vocal tuition with Rachel Foster at the age of 9, exploring a multitude of different genres and techniques. At age 13, Adara won the Sing City competition with her own composition and has continued to write and perform her own work at festivals and events in the city. In the past year she has worked with fellow musicians and young people to create the project: Young Musicians for Palestine, a musical fundraising initiative. Adara is currently developing her craft and working on music for release at Leeds Conservatoire.
