Cod’s Scallops
The absolute dogs bollocks. See what they did there? They’ve won all sorts of awards, and now have two establishments in this fine city, so they’re well worth the salt on their chips. Opt for the traditional battered cod, or go all healthy with a fillet of fish baked in lemon and herbs, accompanied by a side salad and some mushy peas. If you’re on a mad one, order yourself some scampi on the side. It’s to die for.

George’s Great British Kitchen
The big daddy of the traditional British dish, you can indulge in a proper sea-side retreat through the doors of this Queen Street venue. Take a seat in one of their beach huts and order a runny scotch egg to start, follow it up with the Scottish haddock in paprika batter, and wash it all down with a proper gin cocktail. The desserts are summat to behold, too, if you've got the room. Keep an eye out for the candyfloss job...

Lace Market Fish Bar
Pioneers of the late night munch, the family that run the Lace Market chippy are some of the nicest blokes about, and you lot don’t half give ‘em the run around after a big night on the tiles. Drop in for a top dollar donner, complete with salad and mint yoghurt. Make sure you opt for a hearty helping of curry sauce for your chippies, too. Take it from me, it’s the best in town.

The Angel Microbrewery
Serving up traditional pub grub, The Angel’s menu wouldn’t be complete without fish, chips and mushy peas. As they often do, The Angel have gone the extra mile to provide your lot with the goods, and included a vegetarian- and vegan-friendly seeing the vegetarians and vegans among you don’t have to miss out on the goods. Pop your head in for a meat-free alternative, with lemon-marinated tempeh or halloumi wrapped in Black Iris beer batter.

Loch Fyne
For a slightly more up-market affair, King Street’s Loch Fyne is where you wanna be. Obviously they’ve got the classic battered fish, chips and mushy peas, but why not go all out and treat yourself to a whole baked lobster with french fries, or a sea bass with lemon and thyme? They even do a damn fine Lobster Benedict on their breakfast menu, too, so you can start your day well and truly in the spirit of things…
