Taking the stage in Nottingham’s Rock City for their fourth show on a list of headline dates across the country, and riding high off the success of their inventive pop album Rituals, four-piece Deaf Havana seem to only have better and brighter things on the horizon. They are supported tonight by Hot Milk and also by the genre hopping rock of The LaFontaines, who receive a warm welcome.
The foursome kick off their 90-minute show with Fever before launching into fan-favourite Mildred. Sampling tracks from all their albums to date including their latest, Rituals, the band drive the crowds wild with Worship, Trigger and Hunstanton Pier, among many others. Having gone from a six-piece to a four-piece in recent years, and experimenting with a new sound, Deaf Havana still remain a strong performance unit. Interacting with each other and their fans with light-hearted banter, it’s no surprise to see a packed room full of love and support.
What remains a stand-out throughout the show is how the quartet give it their all from beginning to end - proving that they’ve earned the stage on which they stand. Performing other hits such as Happiness and Pensacola, 2013 they close out the set with ‘Sing’ as echoing yells of support swirl endlessly through the venue – it is a real testament to what they have achieved.
