Liam Bailey

It’s been twenty years since Notts born singer-songwriter Liam Bailey entered the music business, and in this time he’s enjoyed success as a solo artist, along with collaborations and tours with Chase & Status, VV Brown, Shy FX and Paloma Faith. Following the success of 2020's Ekundayo album, his latest release Zero Grace brings ‘baritone graininess and psychedelic guitars’ along with ‘soul-baring storytelling of his chaotic early childhood’. Catch this Notts legend live at Rescue Rooms this week.

Could Be Real Tribute Festival

Set against the idyllic backdrop of Lord Byron's ancestral home, this festival will treat audiences to electrifying performances by some of the UK's premier tribute acts, including Ultimate Amy (Amy Winehouse), Attic Monkeys, Mike Andrew as Robbie Williams, Sham Fender, Viva 4 Eva Spice Girls, Kings Of Lyon, Queen 2, The Oasis Experience, Sum Of Sheeran, and Vicky Jackson as PINK! Whether you're a devotee of 90s BritPop Classics, 00s Pop Music, or a Rock 'N' Roll aficionado, this festival guarantees a night to remember. The diverse range of genres ensures there's something for everyone, making it the perfect outing for families and music lovers alike.

Sneinton Festival

When: Sat 6 - Sun 14 July
Where: Various venues
How much: Free 

Celebrating forty years this year, the Sneinton Festival returns with a week of community fun. Throughout the week, events include The Great Sneinton Bake Off, a tour by the curator of the William Booth Birthplace Museum, a garden party and an afternoon of retro gaming, before the main carnival day on Saturday 13 July. This year’s theme is ‘There’s no place like home’ - expect live music, drumming circles, dancing, stalls and lots more. Check out the website here for more information.

Waterfront Festival

When:
Sat 6 July
Where: The Canalhouse

Chill by the water in one of the city’s most unique pubs whilst being entertained by four stages of music. Playing at the Waterfront this year are Bored Marsh, Baby Tap, Sancho Panza, Dusty 4 Track plus loads more.

For those who like to get in the festival spirit the costume theme is simple - hats! Big hats, brash hats, top hats, bottom hats and everything in between! Now in its twelfth year, the festival has previously raised over 30K for charities, with this year’s profits going to Emmanuel House and The Music Venue Trust.

Water into Wine Exhibition Tour with artist Kim Thompson

Where: New Art Exchange
When: Saturday 6 July |  2pm - 3pm

In a series of new paintings, Notts’ artist Kim Thompson presents the experiences of nine Nottingham residents of Caribbean descent, some of whom include the artist’s family. ‘Placing a spotlight on the existence of Black life in a regional British city’ the exhibition aims to get audiences to rethink perspectives on underrepresented narratives and to find relativity and connection within our own lives. Join artist Kim Thompson and curator Saziso Phiri for a tour of the exhibition as they share the inspiration behind the work, discussing the process behind their creation.
