Whiskey Myers
We bleddy love it when new kids come to town. This time round, it’s the turn of Whiskey Myers, who are bringing us the sounds of the deep south U S of A. Cowboy hats as standard. The six-man band are gracing Rescue rooms with their presence, and treating us to some proper old school rock and roll. Citing Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin and The Allman Brothers Band as musical influences, we’re expecting some down right dirty walls of sound to be built from the strings of their guitars. No pressure, boys. Gerron down and show ‘em a proper Hoodtown welcome.

Daudi Matsiko
Thursdays can be a bit of a weird one. You’ve got that tickle of excitement at the prospect of the weekend, but it’s a bit too early to be off gallivanting round town seeing as you do, technically, have another day of work to get through. Luckily for you, Jam Cafe are seeing us right, as they’re hosting the incredible Daudi Matsiko, supported by Keto and the stunning Yazmin Lacey. Our Daudi’s got a right good new album out, and he’s planning to show you what it’s all about in a pretty intimate gig. It’s bound to be pretty chill, and you can sample one of Jam Cafe’s lush sausage rolls while you’re there. And of course, have a vino or two, should the moment take you.

Verbal Warning Album Launch
Some proper stalwarts on the local punk scene are back with an almighty bang, this week. Verbal Warning – the band who survived the original punk explosion – are debuting their brand spankin’ album, No Half Measures for your viewing pleasure down at that there Lord Roberts pub. With a pint firmly in your hand, yer tabs will be treated to such delights as Good At Being Lazy, a summery ska tune if ever there was one, followed by a bash at one of our least favourite people in the world, Piers Morgan. Grab a copy of the album from Rough Trade beforehand so you can sing along and embarrass your mates.

Fashion Design Catwalk Show
If you and your mates fancy yourselves as the next big thing to hit the fashion scene, then you simply must make your way over to the Newton Building this Thursday eve to cast your eye over the freshest designs from this year’s fashion design graduates at Nottingham Trent. No self-respecting king or queen of the scene would dare miss it. Take in the latest fabrics, textures and layers to be hitting the Nottingham scene, and make notes, cos these kids are the next big things. Dress to to impress and you might even bag yourself front row.

Extraordinary Bodies
The world of television and theatre needs a right kick up the arse; it’s supposed to reflect our day to day lives, and yet we’re constantly bombarded with the same faces every time. Extraordinary Bodies are doing summat about it. The pioneering circus company are made up of deaf, disabled and non-disabled performers, writers and musicians alike, making work that truly reflects our diverse society. This week, they, alongside City Arts are running a series of Arts Council funded workshops for everyone and anyone to get involved with. Get yourself online to see which event is best suited to you, and try summat a bit different.
