Wherever you find yoursen this week, no doubt you’ll be followed by the sweet sounds of carolers and jingle bells, and yer know what they say; if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Start yoursens off at The Maze on Friday for the Nest Collective Christmas party, where they’ll be treating us to a helping of live bands and DJs that are sure to get those toes tapping. You can expect the musical fruits of Dystopia, Phattfoxx, NottingJam Orchestra ft. Motormouf, ReactionDubs, Linkwitz, Ambitious and plenty more.

Christmas Covers Party 2017

Next up, we’re at Bodega. This one is so popular, it’s back for the sixteenth year running and we’re sure the queue is gonna be out the door. Here is a chance to see all your fave Hoodtown bands having a crack at covering the best and worst pop tunes the world has ever heard, all in the name of holiday entertainment. This year they’ll be joined by the likes of Young Sid & The Priests, Slumb Party, Churchgate, JC and the Sunshine Band and others, before they clear the dancefloor for yow lot to have a boogie. Nowt says Christmas quite like cheese-stuffed pop songs.
Saturday 23 December, 7.30pm-3am, £8.25, Bodega, event link

Thoresby Colliery Band and Notts Harmonic Choir will be filling Royal Concert Hall with the angelic sounds of strings, high notes and harmonies for this family affair, which sees them singing the very best of Christmas music. With both modern and traditional tunes giving us all the festive feels, you’ll be itching to dance and prance your way arahnd the place. Get the whole fam on the tram and go sing as loud as yer can.

Home Alone

Give your windpipes a break from beltin’ out all the tunes to enjoy this proper Chrimbo classic. Cosy up in one of the Savoy’s big red chairs and settle down to watch Macaulay Culkin as Kevin, the kid who gets left behind when his family goes on a festive getaway to France. We all know the score; slapstick comedy, booby traps and two burly burglars that stick around like a bad smell. It don’t matter how many times you’ve seen the film, it’ll be the perfect way to distract the kiddies before the big day.
Sunday 24 December, 10am, £2, Savoy Cinema, event link

Xmas Eve at The Maze

And finally, we’re back where we bleddy started. Instead of waiting up all night for Mr Clause, tire yoursen out dahn the Mansfield Road haunt instead, where you can get stuck in ta the usual party vibes; tunes blasting out the jukebox, board games, drinks a-plenty and a jam session too. Everyone will be in high spirits, sinking some pints and singing some songs before the big day commences. And, it’s the last time you’ll be able to use ‘BUT IT’S CHRISTMAS’ as an excuse to get waved for at least eleven months…  so milk it while you can, duck.
Sunday 24 December, 6pm, free, The Maze, event link
