Seasonal Karaoke with Joe Strange
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again; Christmas is stressful. Buying present, wrapping presents, writing cards, planning dinner… it’s enough to drive even the calmest of people absolutely barmey. Blend Coffee Shop knows this feeling all too well, and this here karaoke party is their way of getting you lot to let off some steam and sing loudly to the skies. Join Joe Strange and the gang for a festive singalong dahn Sneinton Market where Christmas cheer and fancy dress is strongly encouraged. We reckon they’ll be plenty of voices lost after this one…
Saturday 9 December, 4pm-9pm, £6, Blend Coffee Shop, event link
Jack the Ripper / Crime in Victorian England
Sometimes, there’s nowt better than sitting down to learn all about Britain’s most prolific serial killer. While we’ve all heard of Jack the Ripper, the fact that none of us know who the bleddy hell he really was means there’s plenty up for discussion here. As well as looking at Jack’s murders and the police suspects, they’ll be plenty of chat about some of the enthralling aspects to the murders that are never really discussed; think undercover police in drag and the masonic cover up theory. We just love a spot of murder on a Saturday.
Saturday 9 December, 10am-3pm, £13.50, Beeston Library, event link
Liam Gallagher
Our city’s bound to go bonkers when the outspoken Gallagher brother brings his first solo arena tour to Notts this weekend. His debut solo album ‘As You Were’ and his no-nonsense, word-vomit esq offerings on Twitter have seen Liam capture our hearts all over again, and we’re sure the show will be nothing short of banging. From emotional scenes in Manchester to starting a mass sing-along at Glastonbury, we can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for us lot. Maybe he’ll even do Wonderwall…

We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
