It's officially Christmas week and here's what you can get up to with your time off...
When: Tuesday 21 December, 7pm
Where: Peggy Skylight

What says Christmas more than an evening of Jazz? Join Peggy Skylight for a night full of warm, jazzy tunes, performed by local musicians. Professional and amateur musicians alike are invited to join the house band and play in front of a captivated audience. The doors will open at seven, for what’s set to be a festive open mic night. As always with Peggy Skylight, delicious cocktails and food will be available while you watch the show.
When: Thursday 23 December
Where: Horse and Plough
How Much? £5
Been rewatching Who Wants to be A Millionaire? Consider yourself a trivia king? Head on down to the Horse and Plough for The Big Christmas Quiz this Thursday. You won’t win a million, or any cash prize for that matter, but Christmas bragging rights will be yours for the whole festive period. There also is an actual prize, currently unknown. Booking is essential so get over to the website pronto.
Bill Bailey: En Route to Normal
When: Thursday 23 December, 8pm.
Where: Motorpoint Arena
How Much? From £41
To very subtly name drop, you might have seen our interview with Bill Bailey in the December LeftLion. Now the comedian, actor, and occasional dancer is heading to Nottingham for his new tour En Route to Normal. The show will be reflecting on this strange pandemic time, alongside the other chaotic elements of life. Grab yourself a spot for this Thursday’s show.
When: Saturday 25 December, 9am
Where: Forest Recreation Ground
How Much? Free
Some people like to run on Christmas day. I’ve never met one but I’m told that they exist. If you’re one of those people who’d rather swap pastries in your pyjamas for a sweaty run around the park, then look no further than the Christmas Day Park Run at the Forest Recreation Ground.
We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
