Fancy a chat about poetry? There’s no better place to do exactly that than with the GOBS Collective - founded by Bridie Squires, formerly of this parish. As part of their monthly poetry book club, GOBS are diving into Casey Bailey’s Please Do Not Touch, a “beautifully shattering collection” that “unstitches small and personal disasters on the page”. With their Black Speculative event, Hustle Cinematic are offering a special, immersive screening of Afro Samurai at Nottingham Contemporary, alongside live music from DJs NikNak and Uncle Mo, and a special introduction from gal-dem’s Kemi Alemoru and award-winning animator Jessica Ashman. Exploring themes of fantasy, speculative fiction and afro-futurism, and encouraging fancy dress and cosplay, this is not one to miss.
