What are you doing this week?
Talk: Pustules and Potions: What Was Medieval Medicine Really like?
When: Tuesday 4 April, 1pm
Where: Djanogly Gallery, Lakeside Arts
How much: £3, free concessions
This incredibly thought-provoking talk will open your eyes to the influence of medieval medicine and how it has evolved over the past few decades. Leading the event is Associate Professor in Viking Studies Dr Christina Lee who is bound to debunk myths surrounding the use of medicine and the alternative: medieval healing. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with study outside of the typical realm of education and gives you the ability to explore the past in a very interesting way!
Meet Me at 25 Prospect Street
When: Wednesday 5 April
Where: 25 Prospect street
How much: £10
For many people, having a sense of community is perhaps one of the most important parts of living in a city like Nottingham. Our perspective of this can get lost in the hustle and bustle of city life and this event is the perfect time to revisit what you define as community. The event will include the option to have a “choice of activities to engage in, including a games table, arts and crafts, activities, reading resources, and plenty of opportunity to chat, relax and get to know new people.”
GoldBaby/ Remy CB/Betsy B, Alfie Sharp
When: Thursday 6 April, 7pm
Where: The Old Cold Store
How much: £11
This evening is set to showcase some upcoming talent as part of the indie rock pop trio Goldbaby’s UK tour. With eccentric, and in some places shocking, lyrics as well as Siân’s beautifully soft vocals and instrumentals, the band offer the Nottingham music scene a refreshing sound. Alongside Goldbaby, various artists will be performing including Nottingham’s very own REMY CB as well as Betsy B and Alfie Sharp. It is well and truly “looking like a beautiful show!”
Haters Roast
When: Thursday 6 April, 8pm
Where: Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall
How much: £47.50
“The shameless full-on roast will see the queens arrive on stage armed with their crudest slander… all in the name of comedy.” The nationwide tour of The Hater Roasters will touch down in Nottingham for “the very first time” and will grace Theatre Royal with “unapologetic comedy that will have the audiences rolling on the floor laughing.” Perhaps the best part is that the entire event will be hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race ambassador and winner of season 1, The Vivienne. She is bound to put on an unforgettable show, this isn’t one to be missed!

When: Saturday 8 April, 1:30pm
Where: STAA on St. Ann’s Allotments

If you prefer spending any time you can outside in nature, why not join this short afternoon workshop session to improve the way you look after your plants? Taking place at St Ann’s Allotment this afternoon is the perfect opportunity to gain some insight into how to best look after your garden and “learn about a variety of techniques to improve soil.” Joining likeminded gardeners out in the sun *fingers crossed* and prepare your perfect garden for the warmer months!

We have a favour to ask
LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
