Indie singer-songwriter sensation Billie Marten is coming to Rough Trade this Tuesday, following the release of her fourth album Drop Cherries on Friday 7 April. Recorded entirely on tape in Somerset and Wales late last summer, Billie’s dreamy vocals paired with her signature guitar perfectly captures the vibrancy, uncertainty and occasional chaos one experiences within a relationship. Set to perform her top track I Can’t Get My Head Around You, tickets for this live event include a physical copy of the new album to be signed on the night – it’s not to be missed.

Bonington Vitrines #21: Nottingham Women’s Centre

Exploring the rich history of Nottingham Women’s Centre, this week is the perfect time to head over to Bonington Gallery to learn more about the fight for women’s rights in the city of Nottingham. Including material from Nottingham Women’s Library archives, protest placards and more, this exhibit is a celebration of the organisation which first came to life in 1971.

Bringing filmmakers and film-lovers together, the renowned Nottingham International Film Festival returns to the legendary Savoy Cinema this weekend. Celebrating its eighth event, the festival will exhibit an inspiring selection of independent feature films, documentaries, animations, music videos and more. The line-up includes the UK premier of MURU, a New Zealand-made gripping action thriller which captivated audiences at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. So, whether you’re a cinephile or simply fancy a night at the movies, there’s something for everyone.

Originating at the University of Nottingham back in 2012, the indie rock three-piece are returning to their roots for a night to remember at Rock City. Amber Run have amassed a dedicated fanbase with over two million monthly listeners, selling over 50,000 headline show tickets worldwide. Their newly-released album How To Be Human features the band’s classic, cinematic alt-rock sound while exploring the complexities of emotions and relationships within adulthood. Fashion Fictions World Tour: Try It Out, Try It On

Imagine a parallel world where fashion culture is completely sustainable, but still opulent - sound good? Then drop in to this family-friendly workshop, as part of the Fashion Fictions World Tour, which brings this vision to life in three fictional fashion worlds. Dress up in the style of a fashion culture, document the story of a garment for future generations, explore an interactive game based on clothing poetry and dream up your very own fictional fashion world. This international project, founded in 2020 by Dr Amy Twigger Holroyd, encourages all to imagine, explore and enact alternative fashion realities as an unconventional route to real-world change.
