Windrush 75th Anniversary: 10 Poems About Black History

Join Nottingham based poet Panya Banjoko to celebrate 75 years since the Windrush generation arrived in Britain. Reading from the short anthology ‘10 Poems about Black History’, Banjoko chronicles the passage from the Caribbean, along with the challenges and achievements that followed. Also featuring live music and an opportunity to delve into the Nottingham Black Archive.

Look, we all know you love Strictly Come Dancing, so why are you even denying it? And, lucky for you, fellow Strictly superfan, one of the show’s own, Kevin Clifton, is taking on the much-loved theatre adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s frenetic Strictly Ballroom. Expect some crazy choreography, dope dancing, and a genuinely great guilty pleasure watch all round.
Ex Easter Island Head & XAM Duo

Ex-Easter Island Head are masters of solid body electric guitar, percussion, and more - with the quartet offering a sound unlike any other. XAM Duo are a couple of Yorkshire-based songwriters coughing up soothing, ambient melodies. Now, both are taking over the National Justice Museum for a properly unique gig. Don’t miss out.

We all love a trip to Trent Navigation, right? Chilling in the beer garden, fresh pint in hand, without a care in the world. ‘Doro’ book launch for Nottingham Refugee Week
When: Thurs 22 June, 7-8.30pm

How much: Free for refugees and asylum-seekers; £5 for all others. All money will be donated to the Sea-Watch refugee charity.
After fleeing persecution in his native Gambia, Doro Ģoumãňęh travelled through Senegal, Libya and Algeria to search for safety and belonging. This Nottingham Refugee Week, join Doro and local activist Brendan Woodhouse as they share a dual story, of those facing adversity and displacement from their homes and those seeking to help at all costs.
