Happening here in Nottingham this week: Notts Pride street parties, Boho festival in the wilderness, Imara art auction, punk rock band Phat problem & friends, Madagascar the Musical at The Royal Centre.

Phat Problem + Retina + Fallowed  

When: Monday 22 July
Where: Sumac Centre
How much: From £6 

Pop down for a pint and Punk! Brighton based punk rock band Phat Problem are heading to Nottingham for one night only joined by local grunge band Retina and indie rock band Followed. Door open at 6pm, last entry ends at 10:30 so don't be late. Live music all night featuring grunge, punk and indie rock.  Rebelling against the cistem, all proceeds will be donated to Palestine Children's Relief fund providing free medical care in abroad hospitals and humanitarian aid.

Madagascar the Musical 

When: Wednesday 24 - 27 July 
Where: Theatre Royal Concert Hall
How much: From £15

From the screen to the stage, Dreamworks animated movie Madagascar - The Musical follows the mischievous animal friends as they escape from New York’s City park zoo and step into paradise. King Julien’s island of Madagascar is inhabited by weird and wonderful characters, crazy adventures and music of course. Get up off your feet and  sing along with the cast to your favourite songs from the movie and expect to “move it, move it”. Theatre performer and Tv personality Karim Zeroul will be your King Julien followed by Laura Marie Benson as Kowalski and Francisco Gomes as Marty.

Imara Art Auction

When: Thursday 25 July
Where: Nottingham Society of Artists Gallery
How much: Free entry 

Going once, going twice …. Sold! Immerse yourself in a bespoke art auction hosted Imara, a charity empowering children and families to move forward from domestic abuse and hardship through the use of art therapy and criminal justice support. The evening runs from 6 - 8pm on Friar Lane. The highest bidders will take home original paintings, small sculptures and limited edition prints curated by local artists and professionals around the UK. Art will be available on display all week between the 22 - 28 July for visitors to enjoy.

Boho Festival 

When: Friday 26 - 28 July
Where: Millview Glamping & Events, Nottinghamshire
How much: From £35

Sunsets, nostalgia and a little sprinkling of bohemian magic, Boho Festival is an intimate family-friendly festival taking place within the scenic woodland of the Millview camping and events site. With Martin Kemp throwing an 80s party to kick start the weekend and a disco yurt to dance the night away in over the three days, Boho festival is the ultimate forest party. With tribute acts, wellness classes, bouncy castles and much more, there’s not a dull moment to be had.

Nottingham Pride

When: Saturday 27 July
Where: Various venues
How much: Free

Don your glitter, dig out your most colourful attire and join the march for a day of celebrating Notts' LGBTQI+ community. The march begins in Hockley at Carlton Street at 11am and has a new end point in Sneinton Market where there'll be an eclectic roster of live music and performances on the Pride main stage. Meanwhile, the second stage at Hockley will also feature music from live DJs at Broadway's mezzanine bar, with other events taking place at the New Foresters, Rough Trade, and The Angel Microbrewery.
