August has come around, and whether you're craving some uplifting comedy or theatre to occupy your summer evenings, live DJ sets at a local, album launch party or just a no-nonsense concert at Rock City, we've got you covered at LeftLion. Here are our picks of the Week from 5 to 11 August.

Robin Hood's Adventure Trail

When: From Monday 5 August - Monday 30 September
Where: Across Nottingham
How much: Free

Through August and September, families are invited to participate in the Robin Hood Adventure Trail. Participants must pick up a treasure map from eight participating venues and search for Robin Hood and his friends, hiding at cultural venues across the city. Once all of the characters are found, participants can pick up a badge from the National Justice Museum, as a memento of the adventure. If you're a parent looking for some free summer fun to have with your little ones, this could be the event for you.

The Curious Cabaret

When: Wednesday 7 August
Where: Peggy's Skylight
How much: £22

On Wednesday night, Nottingham magic and comedy collective The Curious Cabaret will showcase their monthly performance at Peggy's Skylight. Now in its seventh year, the show hosts a variety of professional comedians and magicians from across the globe, with this month's occasion promising to be filled with as much sleight of hand, illusion, laughs and audience participation as always.

Newstead Open Air Theatre: The Secret Diary of Henry VIII

When: Thursday 8 August
Where: Newstead Abbey
How much: £20

For the second of Newstead Abbey's Open Air Theatre events this summer,  drama collective Three Inch Fools will perform The Secret Diary of Henry VIII, a comedic take on the life of the Tudor Monarch. As a 'comedy of errors' with musical elements, the performance promises a fun and uplifting summer evening in the grounds of one of Notts' most well-loved historical houses.

amillionsons - misti blu two Launch Party

When: Saturday 10 August
Where: Neon Raptor Brewery, Sneinton Market
How much: Free entry

This week local electronica heroes amillionsons are celebrating the release of their latest record misti blu two with a day of music, food and summery vibes at Neon Raptor Brewing, Sneinton Market. Featuring the vocal talents of soul/funk royalty Taka Boom and Chaka Khan, the record is their most exciting yet. The launch party will feature DJ sets from the men-of-the-moment, with support from others, as well as food provided by Bomber BBQ.

Declan McKenna

When: Sunday 11 August
Where: Rock City
How much: £43.19

Declan McKenna will visit Rock City on Sunday 11 August, for the sixth date of touring his third record What Happened to the Beach. Achieving nearly universal acclaim from critics, the record has been described as an experimental representation of the modern world, with McKenna's live show set to be just as compelling and unforgettable.
