Newcastle alt-rock trio Maximo Park are celebrating the release of their eighth studio album with special, Rough-Trade-organised show at Metronome. Still going strong after two decades as a band, the Mercury Prize nominated group are still one of the most beloved outfits from the mid-2000s UK indie scene, and will follow this Nottingham show with a UK and European tour.
I'm Not From London Presents...

Where: The Angel Microbrewery

This week, dynamic local promoters I'm Not From London have organised a stacked line-up of firebrand artists over at the Angel Microbrewery. Punk rock group Minatore will start off the night at 8.30pm, followed by Midlands band Eryx, then 'wacked out psycho grunge outfit' Bad Milk Blood Robot. New York Rockers TV Moms will close out the night, set to be a guaranteed injection of energy into your Wednesday. If mid-week you're feeling the need to cut loose at one of our city's best boozers, then don't miss!

One of the country's most acclaimed comedy stars will bring her new one woman show to Notts this week, telling all the most embarrassing and side-splitting anecdotes from her 40 year career in film and TV. Described by the Guardian as a show filled with 'mini masterpieces', this is a must-see occasion if you're in need of a good laugh, or just to see one of the nation's favourite comedy talents on her intermittent visit to Notts.

This week, Backlit Gallery will host a very special exhibition celebrating Nottingham Forest fan culture, featuring the photos from the eponymous Instagram photographer in collaboration with the 'added time project', initiative. With the addition of fashion and design artefacts from the history of Nottingham Forest, this exhibition is set to provide some unrivalled insights into this most treasured part of our city.

Fancy a quick trip into the subconscious? Visit Circus of Life, a surrealist exhibition presenting the work of six local artists. This week's opening night will feature circus performers, live music and a DJ set. The exhibition itself spotlights the work of six different artists, from the surrealist collage of Max Speed to the absurdism of D.A Orli, the mind behind our September cover illustration. If you're looking to absorb some playful and dreamlike visuals this autumn, then Circus of Life is an unquestioned must-see.
