As fans of Kate Bush will know, her own tours are something of a rarity. So if you want the next best thing check out this 8-woman powerhouse troupe who have come over all the way from California to play her songs to you instead. After two previous sell-out tours across the UK and Ireland, this is apparently Baby Bushka’s own farewell tour too.
Poetics of Migration: Book Launch
When: Thursday 3 October
Where: Nottingham Playhouse (Neville Studio)

A night celebrating the creativity of migrants, refugees and ordinary people in Notts. Fifteen performers will take to the stage and share their stories about language, home, food, identity, community and social justice. It’s the launch of a poetry collection, featuring poems, essays and illustrations. All proceeds from the book and event go to the Nottingham Refugee Forum.
LeftLion Live At The Library with Shane Meadows

How Much: Free but completely sold out
Our fourth monthly events at the Library is an interview with the director of Dead Man’s Shoes, The Gallow’s Pole and much more. It sold out within a few hours of tickets being released. For those of you that didn’t manage to get them, a podcast of it will be released in mid-October. Tickets are still available however for our November and December events, including with This Is England star Chanel Cresswell.

Led by Nottingham’s Alex Milne, alt-folk four piece Catmilk have put in the hours on the Nottingham circuit with their delightful blend of indie rock and Americana. They’ve played plenty of festivals and support gigs, so it’s great to see them headline a stage like Metronome in their own right. Support comes from Sobscene and Mouse Teeth.

Fancy watching the best pirate-rock band the East Midlands (and possibly the world) has ever spawned? Seas Of Mirth are a high-energy genre-swerving festival band with an immersive deep-sea twist. They’ve performed at major festivals including Glastonbury, Bearded Theory, Boomtown, Lindisfarne and Solfest in the last few years. This is their first Notts show for some time. Support from Ushti Baba.
House of Pain Wrestling: Bash at the Brewery 2
When: 2pm, Sunday 5 October
Where: The Old Cold Store
How Much: £5+BF
Nottingham’s equivalent of the WWE, House of Pain Wrestling, have recently teamed up with Adventure Mayhem promotions for Sunday sessions out the back of Castle Rock Brewery / the Vat and Fiddle. It’s an all-ages family-friendly show for any of you that fancy a Sunday afternoon of spandex and suplexes. Food and drink are available from the bar throughout.
