BBC Music Introducing East Midlands

Another fine evening of music presenting the finest rising local talent, hosted and curated by the legendary Dean Jackson. This month's BBC Music Introducing presents Lilla Shy, No Cash Refunds, EMiDORA, and The Publics. Head down for a midweek fix of new music to spice up your playlists.

Frank Carter and the Sex Pistols

When: Friday 20 September
Where: Rock City

If it's legendary music you're after, you can't get better than the likes of Paul Cook, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols. Heading to Rock City this week, they'll be joined by punk veteran himself Frank Carter (ex-Gallows, The Rattlesnakes) on vocals. With just five singles and one album, the Pistols redefined music, and at this gig you're sure to hear all the classics.

Cheap Dirty Horse + Sunny Side Down + Commoner

When: Saturday 21 September
Where: The Carousel

Enjoy a night of loud rowdy queer trash-punk at one of Nottingham's most creative hubs, The Carousel. Known for songs about 'trans rights, dead billionaires, and the importance of doing the things you love', Cheap Dirty Horse have quickly become one of Notts' most fun bands to see live (you can read our interview with them here). Joining them are Sunny Side Down who make 'indie-emo-pop for people who stop to pet cats on the street' and Falmouth's Commoner. Expect good times, dancing and inclusivity.

Grayson Perry: Man Hours

This weekend, why not have yourself an early autumnal arty wander to see the works of Turner Prize winning artist Grayson Perry? Known for his witty social commentary, Perry is 'witty chronicler of contemporary life' and this exhibition is a great chance to catch two decades of the artist's colourful and diverse illustrations. Heading to the opening night on Friday from 7pm.

Buffy Revamped

There are few shows that have held up as well as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, which many will be pained to realise ended over twenty years ago. Following an award-winning Edinburgh Fringe premiere in 2022 and two sold-out national tours, this parody show is headed up by everyone's favourite platinum haired vamp, Spike, with buckets of Buffyverse related and 90s pop culture references.

An international disability film festival has selected Beeston for its first event in the UK and is offering free tickets to those with disabilities this weekend.
Hosted by the Arc Cinema in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, this Saturday (21 September), Focus on Ability is a series of short films celebrating the abilities and talents of people living with disabilities.
