Queer Up Duck!

This brand new LGBTQ+ Arts Festival is taking place across Nottingham and is set to celebrate the diversity and creativity of LGBTQ+ artists and communities. From a whistle-stop tour on queer activism by our very own CJ DeBarra, to a comedy showcase from the region's LGBTQ+ talents, the festival focuses on uplifting and showcasing the work of LGBTQ+ artists and fostering a sense of community and pride among attendees.

Scrimshire

When: Wednesday 23 October

Where: Jam Café

This week over at Jam Café, things get Autumnal as acclaimed jazz and soul musician Scrimshire recreates his upcoming EP, Music for Autumn Lovers, live in Hockley. Combining experimental guitar, synthesizer and drum machine textures, it's an evening that's set-to-be packed with soul. If you like the sound of sitting back, away from the cold, with a warming craft beer to enjoy jazz vibes evoking the changing-of-the-seasons, you most certainly should treat yourself and head along.

Su Pollard - Still Fully Charged

When: Friday 25 October

Where: Nottingham Playhouse

How Much: £28

Join local and national treasure Su Pollard this month as she brings her new one woman show to the Nottingham Playhouse. The show is set to feature all-sorts of exclusive anecdotes from her 50 years in show business, from her humble beginnings on TV's Opportunity Knocks, through to her years on the West End. Accompanied live on stage by her musical director Steven Edis, Su's set to show this week that she's still fully charged, and ready for action.

Nottingham Pagan Market for Samhain

When: Saturday 26 October

Where: Sneinton Market Avenues

How Much: Free access

Interested in learning about myth, nature and spirituality? Whether you are fully fledged in the realm of Paganism or just curious, come along for a day of art, music, theatre, and more. Stalls will be selling everything from profiteroles to skull candles, handmade jewellery to spell boxes and crystals to mushroom growing kits. This year, the market will also be taking over the main Sneinton Market square with a brand new space to explore: the ghost spiral!

Revenge of Calculon 

When: Saturday 26 October 

Where: Rough Trade

How Much: Free

Alternately, this weekend space-funk duo Revenge of Calculon are celebrating the release of their debut LP Manipulator, with a night of Funkatronic mayhem at Rough Trade. Featuring a full live set from the band, B-movie sci-fi maship projections, guest rappers, ltd edition signed copies or the record, support from EMZAE, and more, this is a show not to be missed if you're in need of some infectious, Saturday-night grooves.
